My Top 5 90s Crushes

It's no secret that I'm a total 90s child and love all things 90s. Of the three and a bit decades I've experienced so far, the "culture" of the 90s is by far my favourite. I've already written about my 90s fashion fails, my favourite 90s board games, my 90s singing career, and one of my favourite songs from the 90s.

On Overcoming Fear (and bugs!)

I wrote this post a month ago and then something shit happened. I didn't finish it because it seemed so trivial when someone I loved was hurting and so I wrote this emo post instead. But a month has passed and I thought it was time to finish what I started that dark, gloomy night...

Heart starts thumping.

Blood pressure rises.

Skin crawls.

Breath quickens.

Nerve endings tingle with a singular, frantic, message...

103-116/365 - Zee

13th April 2014 - You gave me the biggest scare last night when you choked on a sticker, but today you were back to your old, funny self.

103-116/365 - Punky

13th April 2014 - Finally a day that wasn't too rainy or too sunny or too cold, it was just right for going outside and having a swing, one of your all-time favourite things to do!

Let's Talk About Blogging: Facebook Finessing and Sharing the Love

Bloody Facebook, hey? The lament is universal. The reach of our Facebook pages has been steadily declining the past year or so. Why? How do we stop it? There are no easy answers, and to make any difference it's going to take a bit of work on our behalf. But there are a few simple things we can try that might help (and they don't include paying!)

FFS! I'm just thankful for the Things I Know!

Post by Kylie Purtell - A Study in Contradictions.
(Actual post from FB. You can click the See More to read the rest of the story)

So that ^^ happened on Tuesday night. Zee choked. And choked badly. Scared the shit out of me and took about 10 years off my life. Like I can really afford to lose those 10 years with all the crap I got up to in my 20s!

Let's Talk About Blogging: How do YOU read blogs?

I went to a blogging thing on Saturday and it was all sorts of cool. It was the Kidspot Voices of 2014 Masterclass and dagnammit if I wasn't in blogger heaven getting to meet not one, not two, but a few of my blogging girl-crushes!

There was so much to take in, as there always is at one of these events, and I will most definitely share some of what I learnt in later posts. But a few things that were mentioned in passing got me thinking about how I read blogs, and how you guys read my blog.

I've had this post sitting in my drafts folder for ages now, about 6 months. It came to me in a flash of brilliance while lying in bed trying to fall asleep, as all the good blog posts do, and I've been meaning to ask you for ages...

Monday Mini-Rant - F&%king "Fashion" and Why I'll never be a fashion blogger

The other day I went to the shops to try and find something to wear to the #voicesof2014 blogging masterclass. And lemme tell ya, it was an effing depressing experience!

96-102/365 - Zee

6th April 2014 - You're newest skill is clapping your hands, and you absolutely love it when I sing the song "If you're happy and you know it" so that you can practice your clapping over and over. It brings me immense joy to see your face light up and your little hands start clapping furiously when I sing.

96-102/365 - Punky

6th April 2014 - This is a twice daily occurence, hanging out in Zee's cot when she wakes up from her nap. You love to climb in and insist on helping unzip her from her sleeping bag. There are tantrums if you don't get to pull her legs out!

If I die tomorrow...

I was looking in my desk for a notebook on Tuesday night. I have so many, I've been obsessed with stationery for a very long time (why oh why were there no stationery stores around when I was a teenager?!) and I knew that I would most likely have an unused one somewhere.

I found a nice purple one that looked fresh. One I got from work when we had excess samples. I pulled it out and grabbed a pen, thinking to utilise it for making notes on some of the design stuff I've been doing for my own blog and others.

When I opened it to the first page I discovered that it had in fact been used. What I found written on the first two pages surprised me. I'd completely forgotten writing those words. But as I read them, all of the thoughts and emotions I'd felt at the time came rushing back to me.

Sydney, how I love thee...

Last week I was lucky enough to get in to the city to finally use a gift voucher that I got last year for Endota Spa (I literally used it the day it expired!). I've never been there before and it was really nice. To be honest, I've never been to a day spa that wasn't nice!

I absolutely love the city and this spa was at The Rocks, an absolutely beautiful part of Sydney that I just don't get to spend enough time in. Walking around with a coffee afterwards really made me miss my days of working on Bathurst Street in my early 20s. And then I remembered the travel and I was more than happy to be able to work so close to home now. When I'm not on maternity leave that is!

I took all of these photos on my iPhone. I did have my big camera with me but forgot to grab it out of the car, but the iPhone did the job, it's hard to make Sydney look bad.

89-95/365 - Zee

30th March 2014 - Before bed each night, after you've had a bath and been dressed in your PJs, you get a few minutes to hang in the lounge room with Punky while I get everything ready for bed. Every now and then I catch you watching in the Night Garden, but you seem to think finding any piece of paper you can get your hands on is much more interesting!

89-95/365 - Punky

30th March 2014 - After the bath and getting dressed you girls have a few minutes to play together and watch the Night Garden while Mummy gets everything ready for bed. In this photo I caught you throwing a toy in the air, which You've been doing a lot lately. It's a wonder you haven't broken something yet!

Eight Months - Zee

My beautiful girl is 8 months old. Eight whole months this stunning creature has been with us earth side, but sometimes it feels like it's only been eight minutes. She has the most amazing eyes, they bore right in to you. They follow you around the room. And then, when she smiles, they light up with pure sunshine.

And the Inaugural Tosser Trophy goes to...

Back when the awesome Good Golly Miss Holly was still blogging (*sob* I miss her so much!) she would do a post every now and then and hand out what she called an  Asshat Award. I've decided that it's time to pick up where she left off as the internet is totally lacking in crazy people ranting about douche canoes and dickheads right? *insert sarcasm font here*.

So from now on whenever the notion takes me, and there is a dickhead in need of acknowledging, I will be presenting, for your reading pleasure, The Tosser Trophy. That's right, a trophy specially designed by yours truly to acknolwedge the hard work of certain individuals, groups or companies, who have excelled in their studies and finally obtained their Dickhead Degree.
