Growing in to 2016 {One Word} | Life

2015 has been a pretty unbelievable year. I started off the year with the decision to head to Tafe and study photography, in the hopes that it would help me pursue my passion of being a professional photographer. Little did I know when I signed up for that first 9 week course that I would go on to complete my Diploma and learn so much along the way.

Fifty {52 week project} | Photography

A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2015.
{Punky} It's been slowly coming for the last couple of years, but this year Punky is well and truly into the Christmas spirit now. She knows all about it and loves every bit of it. I was in two minds about putting up the big tree this year, but after seeing how much she enjoyed helping decorate Mum's tree the week before, I decided that the risk of Zee destroying it was worth the joy it would bring Punky. It was the right decision.

4 Simple Ways to Improve Your Sleep | Lifestyle

4 Simple Ways to Improve Your Sleep

This post written in collaboration with Sleepy's The Mattress Experts

For many years, especially when I was a teenager, I suffered from insomnia. I've always been a night owl, but these periods of insomnia are something else. I could lie in bed for hours, trying every kind of relaxation technique to try and get my body to switch off and relax in to sleep and nothing would work. I would find myself sitting at the kitchen bench at 3 in the morning, eating slices of pineapple straight out of a tin, close to tears at the frustration of being so tired but not able to fall asleep.

Four Things I've Learned about Parenting {In Four Years} | Parenting

Four Things I've Learned About Parenting {In Four Years}

Yesterday my baby girl turned four. FOUR! How did that happen? Where did the last four years go? When did she stop being a toddler and start being this amazing little girl? Some days it feels like only yesterday that she was born, and other days, well, let's just say those days are looooong!

As you do when your child has a birthday, you start to reminisce on the years gone by, and I realised Punky turning four means that I've now been a parent for four years. And while there will always be something new to learn, I've certainly learned a few things in those four years.

So what have I learned? Read on....

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas {Spotlight Christmas Launch} | PR

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

A couple of weeks ago I was very excited to head in to the city for a morning spent exploring all things Christmas! The lovely people at Kids Business had teamed up with the awesome peeps at Spotlight to help them launch their Christmas range at Spotlight stores in Australia.

I love going to events like this, because not only do I get to indulge my love of Christmas stuff for a few hours, but I also get to catch up with all the lovely ladies of the blogosphere. It's a win-win

Cockatoo Island Sydney

Cockatoo Island {Sydney Harbour} Kid-Friendly Sydney

Cockatoo Island is one of those places that I had heard so much about and have always wanted to visit but for some reason or another never got around to it. Now I have, and I tell you, we can't wait to go back! It's definitely one of the most child-friendly places in Sydney.

Ten on the Tenth {Documentary-style Family Photography} | Photography

I posted on my facebook page yesterday about how I've been having a bit of an internal struggle when it comes to the kind of photography I want to do once I "properly" start my business next year. I enjoy creating beautiful traditional family portraits, but what I really love is a more documentary-style of photography.

All About Aperture {Photography Basics} | Photography

The Aperture. It has to be the number one thing that confuses people most about photography. By far, the aperture was the one function of my camera that took me the longest to wrap my head around.

Like the first two aspects of our cameras & exposure that I talked about in previous posts, Shutter Speed and ISO, the aperture has two functions. The first function is to help us get correct exposure for our images. By opening or closing the aperture we can let more or less light in to the camera's sensor.

Forty {52 week project} | Photography

A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2015.
{Punky} We went on a day trip out to Cockatoo Island last weekend (post to come) and to get there we took the girls on their first ferry ride. To say that Punky loved it would be an understatement! We couldn't drag her away from the side of the boat, she spent the entire trip there, watching the world and the water fly by. I can't tell you how much it made my heart sing to see her so full of joy.

One Perfect Moment {Long Weekends} | Life

It's been a long weekend here in Sydney and it's been a pretty one nice in these parts (aside from the scorching heat!). We had a friend round last night for a few drinks and a catch-up, and on Saturday we ventured in to the city to hop on a Sydney Ferry and head out to visit Cockatoo Island.

Top 5 Things You Can Do On Maternity Leave | Motherhood

This post written in collaboration with Careers Australia
When you first have a baby you don't have a lot of spare time on your hands. Your days are filled with feeding, nappies and trying to get your baby to sleep. It feels like the days will never end and you'll never have a spare moment for yourself again. I promise that it isn’t going to last forever though, and the more spare time you do get, the more you’ll want to be making the most of it before you have to start work again.

I've been thinking a lot lately about my time spent on maternity leave and all the things I did and didn't do. Once you emerge from that newborn fog there are a lot of things you can do to use the time wisely, and I've put together a list of my Top 5 things you can do on maternity leave...

Floriade 2015 {In Pictures} | Places to See

It's just a quick one from me as I've been soaking up the solitary pleasure of having my own hotel room for one last night before I head home. I've been in Canberra since Sunday so that I could visit Floriade and take some photos for a Tafe assessment that I have due next term. It's been really nice being back in Canberra, a place I haven't visited since my teens.

One Perfect Moment {Anything Goes} | Life

Two week ago I was so insanely excited to find out that I had won tickets to see the musical Anything Goes from Nuffnang. I am a huge fan of musicals and my Mum, my sisters and I try to get to at least one every year. Tickets are usually a birthday present from Mum and we make a day (or night) of it by having a lovely lunch or dinner somewhere in the city.

32/52 {Punky} Despite the fact that she definitely can eat most foods without making a mess, there is just something about yoghurt that makes her want to make as much mess as possible. I don't know if it's the texture or what, but she can't eat it without getting it everywhere!
