Taking Stock {January 2015} // Life

I've decided to join in with Pip from Meet Me at Mike's and countless other bloggers in taking stock each month. I think it may be nice to take a bit of time to have a think about what's been going on in my life and also a good way to see how things are changing from month to month.

I've made no secret of the fact that this year is going to be one of change and interesting things. From Tafe to my smallest girl starting daycare, to big family happenings and small personal projects, 2015 is one that I want to document and remember well.

So without further ado, here's me. Taking stock...

Making : Plans. Setting goals. I have a few goals that I want to achieve this year, but I'm still getting them down on paper and trying really hard to make sure they are SMART goals.

Cooking : I made Tuna Casserole on Saturday. It's probably one of the easiest dinners I know how to make. And normally a huge hit with the girls. However they were both in a mood and refused to eat it. Cue feelings of defeat and proclamations of "This is why I hardly ever cook, nobody appreciates the effort!"

Drinking: Water. I seriously need to up my intake of the good stuff again this year and I'm starting small with a goal to consume a minimum 5 cups a day to begin with. So far, so good.

Reading  : I've been reading the second book in the Outlander series, Dragonfly in Amber, as well as reading the second part of my super blog friend Kim's book that she is writing.

Wanting : To do Angie Baxter's Love Your Camera workshop. I even got money for it for Christmas but the star's have not aligned (read: I haven't been able to get a babysitter!) for me to do the one this Sunday (insert sad face here).

Looking : At some of the amazing photographers and their work in the 500px community.

Playing : The Very Hungry Caterpillar Game and Beetle with Punky. She's just starting to understand the idea of playing board games and I'm loving it!

Deciding : That I really need to get my weight under control and work on eating better. This is part of my small steps approach with goals this year.

Wishing : I could just click my fingers and lose 25kgs like that!

Enjoying : Warm evenings and being able to get about in shorts and singlet till the small hours of the night.

Waiting : For Tafe to start. I'm excited and nervous all at once. I just want it to be done already!

Liking : Checking out the beautiful portraits being linked up each week at Practising Simplicity for the 52 week challenge.

Wondering : Why I've been feeling a bit jittery lately. I think it has something to do with the Tafe nerves.

Loving : Cheap petrol!

Pondering : The craziness of the world right now.

Considering : Whether or not to stick with my new blonde look.

Watching : Re-watching old favourites, Stargate Atlantis and Alias.

Hoping : I can get myself and the girls out of the house on time on Tafe days!

Marvelling : At the miracle of life and unexpected blessings.

Needing : To wash my hair.

Smelling : The rain.
Wearing : Black cotton pants from Kmart. Seriously, best $15 I've ever spent! They are just like all the pattern pants that are all the rage but plain black. My sister and I agree that they are basically summer trackies!

Following : A friend's Facebook feed religiously, waiting to hear new baby news!

Noticing : How loud Dave listens to the TV!

Thinking : I really need to get this house sorted out and decluttered ASAP!

Admiring : The courage and compassion that the families of recent terror incidents have displayed.

Sorting : The never ending piles of washing and the girls clothes.

Buying : More food in bulk so we can cook more in bulk, be a little more organised and save ourselves a little bit of time and money in the long-run.

Getting : Some good ideas for future blog posts.

Bookmarking : This great post that I will include in the first Linky Lovin Friday of the year this week!

Disliking : The ridiculous amount of toys in this house!

Opening : A brand new tin of beautiful colour pencils that Dave and I bought last week.

Giggling : At Punky performing scenes from Frozen. She's such a ham!

Feeling : Tired. I really must get more sleep!

Snacking : Trying not to!!!

Coveting : A gorgeous 3Annies bag to keep my camera gear safe and easy to transport to and from Tafe.

Wishing : I had more time to get all the blog posts in my head written and scheduled so I can have one less thing to think about once Tafe starts.

Hearing : The cricket. The soundtrack of summer.

What have you been up to so far in January? Got any big plans for the year? Have any special goals? Anyone else have a partner that listens to the TV at a ridiculously loud volume?

I think I am the one that has the TV up ridiculously loud in our house ... in my defense, I do have a slight hearing problem and find it hard to hear over background noise! That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

I really like the prompts in this post - may have to undertake this myself, it is an awesome way of keeping up with what's going on. Good luck with TAFE and getting yourselves out the door on time. You will get there and it will be awesome!

OMG yes! I do have a husband who is half deaf and has the telly too loud. Shits me, especially when he goes to bed and leaves the telly on and loud! So much here I can relate to. Frozen performers, drinking more water, eating less crap, Stargate!! Best wishes for your coming year x

Great post! I like the prompts as sometimes I have a serious case of bloggers block!
I notice how you don't even need to change the volume setting and you can go from barely hearing it on one channel to being blasted away on another! Channel 9 seems to be the worst! SO loud!
Gorgeous pictures placed in between as well!

Playing the Santa card was bloody fun, but upon arriving home from hols today it was Xmas all over again with the kids and Im wondering 'What the Hell was Santa thinking!! ha ha. Im loving this idea for a post as well as the 52 photos for the year. You have inspired me to participate in the 52 project can I just say. Im starting this weekend. Good luck with TAFE. Your pics are awesome now, imagine in a Semester's time. Looking fwd to seeing it all unfold. My goal is to use the 'free' time I have better (its minimal) and to spend less time on social media and play more with the kids.

Great post Kylez. I think I might jump on this too. I need to take stock of where I'm up to and what and why I'm doing stuff.
I hope the transition to starting day care and your course at Tafe go brilliantly. Oh, I loved playing the very hungry Caterpillar Game with Girl Child. It's fun. Well, maybe not when you are playing it 10 times a day but I really enjoyed it.
