Getting friendly with Peppa Pig (and Daddy Pig of course!)

Edit: Winner announced at the bottom of this post...

Now my love for Daddy Pig is no secret around these parts. I've become known for my forbidden crush on that lovely pink pig.  But I also have a soft spot for his daughter Peppa. In fact my whole family does. Punky is so obsessed with Peppa that she sleeps with not 1, not 2, but 3 Peppa Pig dolls! And as if that wasn't enough, we even have a Peppa Pig training toilet seat just waiting for Punky to finally decide that yes, she will in fact give up nappies forever (I'm not holding my breath!).

Peppa is a lovable, cheeky little piggy who lives with her younger brother George, Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig. Peppa loves playing games, dressing up, visiting exciting places and making new friends, but her absolutely favourite thing is jumping up and down in muddy puddles. Her adventures always end happily with loud snorts of laughter.
You too can enjoy your own Peppa Pig adventure this May. Simply visit any ABC store this May to ‘find Peppa and her friends’. Collect an entry form from the till point and write down the name of the characters that you find. Once you have completed the hunt, hand your completed entry form to the counter to be entered into the competition and receive a Peppa Pig giveaway.

Win a Peppa Pig PJ Pack

I of course jumped at the chance to have a little fun helping celebrate Peppa Pig's Friendship month in May. Not only do I have a lovely $50 Peppa Pig Girl's PJ Pack to giveaway, but Punky and I have been given the opportunity to see Peppa and her family live on stage in July.

I am beyond excited about the fact that I am going to finally see my crush in the flesh, so to speak. Punky doesn't quite understand what "live on stage" means, but I'm sure she will be just as excited as I am once we get to the theatre and she sees Peppa!

If you have a little Peppa Pig fanatic living in your house, or you know someone who does, then comment on this post (more details below) to be in the running to win the PJ pack, and help a little girl become better friends with Peppa.

I will of course let you know how the show goes in July. I can't promise that I won't get a little teary when I see Daddy Pig in person for the first time, but I'll try my best to be a mature adult about it. For Punky's sake! Now, I need to start planning what we will both wear for this most awesome occasion, because any old jeans and t-shirt just won't do. We will both be meeting our heroes!
Just one of the many Peppa Pig dolls Punky owns.

To be entered in the running to win a $50 Peppa Pig Girl's PJ Pack, simply leave a comment on this post answering the following question:
Who was your first best-friend and how did you meet them?

Winner announced 11.07.14 - Congratulations to Renee Wilson, you have won the PJ Pack. I will send you an email when I get back from the show!

Punky eyes will be so wide when she shes the pig family on stage. I can well imagine the thoughts you will be having about Daddy pig!
My first best friend lived next door. Mum was horrified the day I tipped varnish in her hair. She can laugh about it now. I can't remember any of it!

My first best friend was a girl called Sharlene. I met her in primary school. I would've been 5 at the time. We were the same nationality and we seemed to just click as we had a lot in common. We remained friends all throughout primary school but lost contact in our teens.
About 2 or 3 years ago, we were reunited through Facebook, and we are now both mothers with three kids each. She lives a while away but still manages to come visit during school holidays. It's been great seeing our kids form friendships. Our friendship took off right where we had left it. It's been great!

Oh too funny. You should start a new series, I would love to see your take on...... Jack & the Beanstalk next.

Haha, I'm going to be reading between the lines of every children's book now. Great review! Thanks for linking up. Rachel x

So many kids' books are a bit shit. Especially those from that era. Great review LOL

You are spot on with the hidden meanings/innuendo (I've also got a twisted mind)! There are some endings that have been just so dodgy I refuse to read them anymore, they are now in the pile of books that Daddy reads! Great review!

You clever clogs! There is a lot of innuendo in Ben & Holly, which Punky will LOVE in a year's time - I PROMISE. It's a lot more adult-targeted than Peppa Pig. GOLD. Thanks for linking lovely xxx

I'm so digging out my books from childhood and looking for innuendo now :)

You would be so surprised by what you find!

Funny you mention Ben & Holly as Punky has just started to show an interest in it. I watched it with her the other day, and aside from the fact that it's voices from my favourite piggy family show, it's a cracker of a cartoon!
Kylie Purtell said…
Hahaha, yep, I have a Daddy pile too, there are just some I can not bother with!
Kylie Purtell said…
Aren't they what! That Beatrix Potter must have been smoking some interesting drugs back in the day!
Kylie Purtell said…
After I did this one I wasn't able to stop, I see this stuff in most of the kids books/shows I see now, it's become a bad habit!
Kylie Purtell said…
Oh, that's a good one. I'll have to borrow a copy from the library and study up!

My first ever best friend was a girl called Nancy. Mummy took me to my first day of school and that's when I spotted her; long blond hair. (My hair was short and dark). She had glorious hair - I simply had to know her. I immediately left Mum's side and trotted over to her and said "Want to be my friend?" Nancy said yes! We were best buddies for 4 years until she moved schools (which broke my infant heart). We found each other years later on Facebook. (Not that I can see many of her posts anymore thanks to that crappy site!) It was a case for judging a book by its cover.

My first best friend was my dog, Angus. He was an Airedale and he was BEAUTIFUL. I have many photos of me as a bub sitting next to him, his nose nudging me up and then his leg holding me in place. My best friend helped me learn to sit up!

Thanks for hosting the giveaway. Enjoy the show - my gal would L.O.V.E. to go! But she'd also be happy as a pig in muddy puddles with the pyjamas. x

My first best friend was a girl call Justine. We were inseparable. She was going to leave for Tasmania but she was so upset about leaving me that her parents cancelled that idea but I ended up changing schools and never saw her again. Oops. I still wonder where she is these days...that was 30 years ago!

I have no awesome best friend story. :( All my best friends have been pretty regular stories - just started hanging out together and then getting better friends...
BUT I can tell you a funny story of how Luke & I got together, because *insert cheesy music here* HE is my best friend now. :-D
Luke had first gone out with my friend (almost best friend, but we were less close at this time) B for a while. maybe even close to a year? Then he moved fairly quickly onto my true best friend R. I was fairly certain that whole time that Luke HATED me. Haha! It was a few years later that R started talking to Luke again and invited him to go to church with us (he wasn't a Christian at the time), but she had to work late that night. SO her current boyfriend and I had to go and pick him up. So awkward!

My first best friend was a girl named Tracey. We met when she started at my primary school, we were insperable and stayed at each others houses all the time. Unfortunately we parted our ways when we started high school. 20 years later I sometimes still think of her & have never had a friend so close to me like her since then.

My first best friend was a gorgeous girl named Jess! Her grandparents lived beside me, so whenever they 'babysat' her (which was quite often!), she would head straight next door to visit me. We spent many summers splashing about in the pool, or drizzly winter days curled up on the couch watching movies. Now that we are adults and mummies ourselves, I wish she still was next-door for play dates and coffee!

I met my best-friend, Adam, in Primary school.
Adam had one sister, brown hair and cerebral palsy. I used to go to Adam's
house all the time and we'd draw, read books and listen to music. Unfortunately
I moved out of area when I went to High School and we lost touch.

My first best friend was my dad, whose temper is very similar with Daddy pig. I told my every secret to him and he always kept them as promise.

My best friend lived in the same apartment block on the same floor, I was 3 and he was 4, his name was Connor. We always played together untill we moved away when I was seven. I remeber playing school games where we took it in turns being the teacher, doctors games, back then we did not have many toys, but thinking back it is amazing how much imaginative play we did have

My first best friend was my sister...born two years after me, just for me to play with and look after!
