The Lazy Girl's Guide to Cooking... Mars Bar Slice // Food
I am seriously the world's laziest cook. I wouldn't say worst, coz I can crank out a few good dishes when I put my mind to it, it's just I don't actually enjoy cooking to be perfectly honest and avoid it at all costs. When I do cook I follow the rules of KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid!).
This easy Mars Bar slice recipe ticks all the boxes when it comes to Lazy Girl cooking: fast, simple, no-fuss, but most importantly, absolutely delicious! I'm sure most people have had Mars Bar slice at some stage in their life (and if you haven't I feel truly sorry for you!) but what makes mine so scrummy is that instead of putting milk chocolate on the top, I use dark chocolate. Seriously, dark chocolate on this baby just elevates it to another level!

Mars Bar Slice

- About 200g of Mars Bar (I used two of the King Size and a regular size)
- 90g of butter
- 3 cups if Rice Bubbles
- 200g of dark chocolate
- 30g butter, extra
Method:
- Instead of greasing your slice tray, just line it with a sheet of baking paper. Makes cleaning the slice tray much easier for the Lazy Girl!
- Combine Mars Bars and 90g butter in a saucepan on low heat and stir continuously until smooth and melted, without boiling. My SIL stressed the hardest part is having the patience to melt it on low heat so that the chocolate doesn't have a seizure. Or something like that.
- Once smooth, stir in the rice bubbles and mix well so all of the Rice Bubbles are coated in your yummy, sticky Mars Bar-melted goodness (note to self: do NOT stick finger in saucepan for a sneaky taste before adding rice bubbles, that shit is hot!)
- Press the sticky goodness into your slice tray and find a clear space on the bench to leave it while you get to melting the dark chocolate
- Add the remaining 30g of butter and the block of dark chocolate in a bowl, melt over hot water, stirring continuously until smooth.
- Once that's done, pour melted dark chocolate over the rice bubble mixture, pop the tray in the fridge long enough for the topping to set, and go lick the chocolate bowl!
So there you have it, my Mars Bar slice recipe. It's supposed to take about half an hour to make but it took me a little longer, mostly coz I made a stupid sharp, sudden noise which resulted in an "Oh Shit!" moment and I had to go sooth the munchkin back to sleep (I may or may not have gotten a little bit of chocolate on her sleeping bag!). Serves me right for making it at 11 o' clock at night.
