What would you do if you lost your precious memories?
This is a post for Mother's Choice
I take a lot of photos. So many in fact that in the first 5 months of this year alone (and keeping in mind the fact that we haven't finished May yet!), I've taken over 2000 photos. That figure doesn't even include all the photos I've taken on my phone, that's just the ones I've taken with my DSLR. As you can imagine, when you multiply those kinds of numbers over the years, we are talking a lot of photos. And a lot of photos calls for a lot of storage. And back-up.
There are advantages and disadvantages to living in the digital age. While it's never been easier to record and store our precious memories, we need to be careful to back-up those memories, lest we lose them forever. Electronics fail, and so printing photos and documents becomes a great way to keep a second back-up of the most important stuff.
I've recently started exploring online cloud storage options for all of my photos so that I have a third, off-site back-up of the photos and memories that I most treasure, and would hate to lose above all others. Again, this is where the digital age comes in handy. In 2014 we have this option, to have multiple back-up copies of our photos and documents, not only in our homes but in the cloud as well.
But what happens when you lose everything in a fire? In 1989?
This is exactly what happened to Australian nursery brand, Mother's Choice. When their premises caught fire in 1989 they lost most of their historical records. Over 20 years of records and treasured photos were lost forever. There was no cloud storage back then, and as such, they've been missing a vital part of their company's history.
This year Mother's Choice are celebrating 40 years of providing baby products to the Australian public. To celebrate, they'd love to try and piece together some of that lost history, and in the process build a new database featuring their products being loved and used by Australians.

Mother's Choice are currently running a competition for current and previous customers to submit photos they may have that feature one of their products, New, old, it doesn't matter, every photo with a Mother's Choice product in it is a small representation of their history. Everyone that submits photos via the Mother's Choice Facebook Page goes in the draw to win $5000 cash and other prizes.
The older the photo the more entries it will receive. So if you know there is a photo of you as a baby in the 70s or 80s, hanging out in your Mother's Choice pram or other product, then make sure you enter it for a chance to win the Grand Prize of $5000. There are also two runners-up prizes of Mother's Choice product vouchers, valued at $1,500 each.
This is a great way to help Mother's Choice piece together their lost history, and the perfect excuse to pull out the old photo albums and take a trip down memory lane.
For more information on the competition head to the Mother's Choice website. You'll also find the link to enter the competition via their Facebook page there.
