D-Day minus 26... and Counting! A Pregnancy (& Life!) Update

26 days. 26 little days before PJ#2 is "officially due" to arrive. Some days it feels like she just can't come soon enough. Other days I'm wishing there was more time!

I haven't posted an actual pregnancy update since May when I was about 30 weeks so I thought it was kinda time. I did have a bit of a whinge/break down last week on the blog about how I've been feeling and struggling these last few weeks as we get down to the business end of things and I am pleased to report that after last week I am feeling much better! I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who commented on that post, your words were truly beautiful and went a long way towards helping lift me out of the funk. You guys are awesome!

After my little meltdown things very much went upwards as my sister looked after Punky for two nights for Dave and I so we could have a bit of a final break and time together before PJ#2 gets here. Wednesday we all went to Mum's for dinner (as we do every week) and to watch the State of Origin and Punky stayed the night there. Dave and I headed home after the footy, footloose and child-free and stayed up until almost 1am just soaking in the chance to be noisy at whatever time of the night for a change! It's the small things people!
She was a little grumpy with us disturbing her sleep for her 32 week ultrasound. She has her sisters frown and pointer finger that's for sure!
After having the best sleep I have had since before Punky was born (Wednesday night was the first night I have slept in my own bed without Punky in the house since she got here!) we got up and did a little cleaning in preparation for my sister and Punky to come and stay the night. Then we packed our bags and went and checked in at The Sebel Resort and Spa down the road (we got married there!). I was booked for a pregnancy massage at Villa Thalgo, the onsite spa (seriously fancy, you should totally go if you get the chance and the money), courtesy of my wonderful In-laws, and Dave went and played golf with a friend. I then indulged in some room service and when Dave got back from golf we relaxed in our private spa!
The only problem with getting a pregnancy massage is that the benefits you get from the massage wear off way quicker than when you aren't pregnant! I could do with this treatment every day!
We had dinner at a lovely little restaurant that I've been wanting to go to for ages, Biviano's, and can I just say, lamb shoulder and banoffee pie. Soooooooo good! And even after having banoffee pie my blood glucose reading was well within acceptable range! Yay me!!! The sugar did kinda go to my head though and I was on a bit of a high when we left so going for a walk around the hotel grounds was a must when we got back!! We then indulged in a late-night spa before heading to bed and making the most of the buffet breakfast in the morning. I just love me a buffet breakfast and it was my second at the Sebel in a week (a girlfriend took me for my birthday the week before as they do a Mums & Bubs special! Spoiled much!). It was so nice to be able to take our time with breakfast and read the paper without having to rush or worry about a toddler getting bored.

We then spent Friday doing the grocery shopping and Big W Toy Sale shopping. We were going to layby Punky's birthday presents and both girls Christmas presents but the line was so bloody long, and we were getting less than $150 worth of stuff anyway, that we decided to just pay for it and I would go back to layby the swing set another day when it wasn't so crazy in there.

The couple of days break was exactly what we needed, especially me, and I'm in a much better frame of mind now. I had lunch with two very special friends on Saturday and we had an extended family get together on Sunday which was great so things are definitely good at the moment. I've organised help in getting furniture moved and the baby's room painted and I spent yesterday getting things ticked off my list that have been haunting me for weeks! Now if only the bloody Centrelink website would work so I can submit my PPL application I will be extra happy!
And a little bit camera shy at 36 weeks, she had both her hands and a knee in front of her face and it took a little coaxing to even get this shot!
I have my first acupuncture appointment on Friday with J (who is also our doula) and I am hoping to buy some paint for the baby's room this week too, just depends on when I get a chance to run up there without Punky, she enjoys running around Bunnings way too much to take her with me!

Definitely a lot bigger with PJ#2 at 33 weeks than I was with Punky!
I'm definitely feeling huge now and have slowed right down. The only comfortable way to sit is completely rod-straight or half reclined on the lounge. Any position that reduces the pressure on my lungs and back basically. The fit ball is my preferred place to sit! My blood pressure has been low lately as well which has resulted in not feeling great and some rather annoying bouts of light-headed-ness. I was sitting on the floor of Punky's room last night with Dave while we had a play before her bedtime and I got a huge case of vertigo. It was the strangest feeling, I've had it before while standing but to experience such dizziness while I am sitting still on the floor was a little disconcerting. Something to mention at my next antenatal appointment that's for sure!
PJ#2 had a bit of a growth spurt between 32 & 33 weeks even taking in to account the slight perspective difference in photos (or perhaps its just my haircut! Hehehe!)

People have been commenting quite a bit lately too about the fact that I must be just about ready to drop and are surprised when I say there is still a few weeks to go. It probably doesn't help that I'm carrying quite low so people think I must be due any day now! I'm living in my trackies and $20 target maternity pants at the moment as my good maternity jeans are just too tight around my belly because bubs is so low. They are actually loose everywhere else but around the belly which is quite annoying! I'm pretty sure I've technically lost weight the last three weeks, I haven't actually put on any weight, so when you take in to account the fact that the baby has put on weight and everything else I have lost weight from somewhere! The one bonus of having gestational diabetes!
The photo on the right was taken last night
Apart from all of that its just the same old pregnancy aches and pains and the joys of getting to feel your bub move and wriggle around inside. The anticipation of what she'll look like (the ultrasound technician said it looked like she had quite a head of hair last Wednesday) and how different or the same from Punky she might be. I'm trying to enjoy these last few weeks as much as possible as we don't know if we'll have any more after this so I want to savour all of the good things about pregnancy while I can. I'm so lucky to be blessed to have experienced being pregnant twice now and I don't want to take it for granted. Although sometimes when PJ#2 is doing her best to kick her way out through the side of my belly its a little hard!

So that's all for now and where we at. Dave is on night shift tonight so I plan on sorting through some of Punky's newborn clothes and working out whats going to be suitable for this bub and season. And also taking advantage of having the bed to myself!

Linking up as always for IBOT with Essentially Jess.
P.S. If you would like to contribute a little guest post for while I am on a bit of a blogging break following the birth please let me know via email to kylie@kyliepurtell.com. It can be on anything you like or I can suggest a topic for you too if you like.

P.P.S. I did not receive anything from the hotel, spa or restaurant (or anyone of the people/brands) that I have mentioned in this post, its not sponsored in any way. We just had such a good time, and were looked after so well I wanted to give them a bit of a name check. God knows I've been bragging about them to my offline friends the last few days too!

How exciting. I'm jealous of your mini break, we didn't do that, such a good idea. We haven't been away together for over 4 years. And it shows. Anyway you look great, really good, even if you feel a little over it :-)

You are looking so good and I'm glad you and Dave had some time out to treat yourselves and take a break. God knows, it's going to be hectic in a few weeks time :) I know what those last few weeks can be like especially with people saying you must be ready to pop when reality there is still a few weeks left. People huh?! :)

You look stunning, and what a beautiful baby bump! I'm glad you enjoyed your mini-break, that's one thing I regret about my pregnancies, I was that busy running around trying to be superwoman (and failing) I wish I'd taken some time to enjoy our last times together without a larger family!

Ooooh so exciting! Maybe you can bring her along to the DP Drinks? You know, discharge yourself from hospital then come straight to The Rocks?? :)

So glad you have had time with your hubby before bub 2 comes. It's so exciting for you and I remember counting down the weeks like you. I had terrible insomnia so the sooner my bub came out the better I would sleep even if it was 2 hour slots due to feeding. Looking forward to hearing your news in the next couple of weeks. :)

I hope you had a great night with the bed to yourself - and that you enjoyed going through newborn clothes. You look divine, just glowing, at the end of all my pregnancies I was spent - especially with No.3 - chasing 2 around, so I feel your tiredness. HUGS and loving your hair BTW :) x
