The Week that Was
I was going to post a pregnancy update this week but I just haven't had a chance.
It seems we've been in a bit of a down cycle here in the Purtell household and it's been a matter of just treading water the last couple of days with both Punky and Dave quite sick.
Ended up in emergency until 3am Monday morning with Dave as he had an almost 40 degree temp, nausea and pain in his back which was effecting his breathing. Thankfully it's nothing so bad that some strong antibiotics, muscle relaxants and plenty of rest can't fix.
Punky seems to be coming good after days of high temps and a course of antibiotics so hopefully this means we are about to hit an up cycle and things might be relatively calm and stress-free for a few weeks.
I find life is always a bit like that, you have those weeks and months where everything is up and going well, and inevitably the balance to that is the weeks and months where things seem to fall apart and everything goes wrong all at once. I don't mind it though as without the lows the highs wouldn't be so good.
So I haven't had a chance to get any blogging done really because I've been playing nurse to my two sick people and soaking up the lovely snuggles that come with a sick child. I hate to see Punky so unwell but the cuddliness is a definite bright side to it!
So in lieu of a pregnancy update this is just a quick look at the week that was. I promise to get that pregnancy update (complete with bump shot) done soon!
Dinner with the family for my step-dad's birthday
Even unwell these two still manage to have fun together!
At least the bump comes in handy for something!
Went to a friends 30th on Friday night with Kelly from Handmade Tears and Triumphs. The theme was Op-Shop Formal. All she needed was a pair of fingerless gloves and she so would have been channeling 1980s Madonna!
Did I mention we switch off the designated driving responsibilities depending on who is and isn't pregnant at the time? Yeah, I was definitely the pregnant one and Kelly was my much needed entertainment!
You can't quite tell from this angle but this is me lying on the lounge on Saturday afternoon. Mia was kneeling on the ground beside me making me hold the iPad for her while she played and she fell asleep! Poor munchkin was so sick.
This was 10 mins later, and two minutes after this she was asleep again. There has been a lot of this the last few days.
Finally on Monday afternoon they both had stable, normal temps and I ushered them outside for some much needed fresh air.
And after the down cycles there is always the Up!
And before I go, I just want to give a massive shout-out to my awesome MIL for coming over late Sunday night/early Monday morning and napping here with Punky so I could go to the hospital with Dave. Lifesaver!
And finally, a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my not-so-little brother N, who turns 21 today. I love you lots mate, even if you do make me feel old!
My bro, the ultimate photo-bomber, doing it way before it was even called photo-bombing!
Joining in with Essentially Jess and IBOT today. Because its the best thing to do in a Tuesday!
