Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 - A Film Review

So last year, November 30th to be exact, I went to see HP7 part 1, and then I totally forgot to write a review about it in the busyness of organising my husband's 30th birthday.

Needless to say, I loved it, but I was always gonna love it.

I've heard people say it was boring. Well yes, they don't do a lot, especially compared to other movies, but that's because they don't do a huge amount in the beginning of the book. There's not much you can do when you're on the run from rampaging Death Eaters.

The acting was ok, no better or worse than in previous movies, but for a fan of the books, I don't really care. I'm just there to see how they translate the books to screen, the acting (for me) isn't so important. I really did like the dancing scene in the tent, even if it wasn't in the book, I thought it was a bit cringy at first, but by the end I didn't mind.

It ended where I thought it should, although I think it would have been better to explore the Hallows just a bit more, it felt a little rushed, but I spose there is no way they are gonna fit everything in.

All in all, as a fan of the books, I really liked the movie and I thought it did the book a fair amount of justice. Absolutely can't wait to see the final part, it looks amazing from the previews.

If I had to give it a rating as a non-fan though, I would probably go with 3 stars. But 5 from a fan!

Have you seen it yet? Do you care about Harry potter? What did you think of the latest movie?

Interestign that you posted this today as Boy Child and I only saw the movie yesterday.

We both enjoyed it. There were bits that were just so sad (Hermoine and her parents in the first scene). We area really lookign forward to the final installment.
Hello!

I loved the dancing scene! I thought it was a much needed relief from the tension and darkness. It the somehow added to the drama when the remembered their situation.

I think it is the best film in the series so far and am actually sad that the next one will be the last.

I reviewed the film too, at http://www.viewsofastarchild.com/2010/11/harry-potter-and-deathly-hallows-part.html if you wanna have a look.

I am sooooo looking forward to the next one!
