Poor Little Diddums

As I sit here typing this, I have the tiniest little quail baby curled up in my shirt.

The little bubba is only about a day old, and Mr.P discovered him this afternoon.

Sadly he seems to have been rejected by the mother and other quails, Mr.P found them taking turns to peck at him and his Mum wasn't even interested in him. Mr.P rescued him and we've had him inside with us. All he wants to do is snuggle up, but when we put him in his box with a soft towl a bit bunched up so he can burrow, he burrows around a for a bit and then starts crying. As soon as you put your hand in he runs to it and stops his crying.

Don't know what I am going to do when I have to go to bed...it's not like he can snuggle up in bed with me.

I'm not totally confident the poor lottle guy is going to make it anyway. We've been giving him drops of water from a syringe and have crushed up some seeds for him so hopefully that will get him through, but we'll see.

Fingers crossed. If anyone has any tips or advice on looking after baby quails, please hit me with it.

I have no qualifications, but i believe that if you mix some sugar or honey in with the water it will give him some energy. Let us know how he does.
