What Have I Been Reading Lately? 23.10.09

Well, I finished reading the 8th Sookie Stackhouse novel at the end of last week, and on Wednesday night I finished Geraldine Brooks' People of the Book. I really liked People of the Book. I'll post a review next week telling you why exactly you might like it and why you should read it!

The fantastic thing about finishing People of the Book on Wednesday night, was that on Thursday Audrey Niffenegger's new book Her Fearful Symmetry turned up at work! Yay!

So I started reading that last night, got about a quarter of the way through and I'm loving it! The story is quite different to The Time Traveler's Wife, but still has her wonderful style of writing and use of language. Just gorgeous. I want to finish it tonight but not sure if I'll get a chance so may have to wait until Monday night. But I am looking forward to it either way.

What are you reading this week? Or next, seeing as we are at the end of this one!

I'm dying to hear what you thought of this one. I read the opening page in a bookstore and felt like sobbing. That's next on my must-buy list! I'm wading through a classic(ish) at the moment Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow.

Oh, I can't wait to get my hands on the new Audrey book. Alas, I have many others on the bedside table still awaiting my attention. I'm still wading through, "Revolutionary Road" after the gals on First Tuesday Book Club gave it such a rave review.
