Wednesday's Wacky Book of the Week - New Ideas for Today's Crochet

New Ideas for Today's Crochet

While at first glance there doesn't seem to be anything overly wacky about this title, on second glance you may think what I did..."WTF is that green thing she's wearing? Is that a crocheted swimming costime?!?!?"

Yes, it is. Or to be more acurate, a 'body-suit'. I don't know about you but I would not be caught dead crocheting a bodysuit let alone WEARING a crocheted bodysuit!

While I admit there are one or two nice things in here, most of it is naff! Now I like naff sometimes but not this much.

I was reading through the reviews on amazon.com and 3 of the 4 reviews are 5-star! What are these women on??? There is one negative review, it got 1-star and I thought I could like this lady...

...Almost all of the patterns are a form fitting halter top and small skirt, alot of belly showing. The was a Berrocco suede 2 piece halter a skirt i like until i saw the back, which would make you look like some street tart!! A red duster with multicolour feathers coming down the sides which was so ghastly not even your old schooled grandmother would attempt, with the model doing her best to make the ghastly thing look good, most of pattern have some type of open work, a ridiculous bolero, a cheap looking sml tote bag, plastic beaded necklace and bracelet.

So I'm reading this and thinking "Yes, I agree with this gal". But then she went on to say this...
The only nice thing is the body suit on the cover...

I'm sorry but are we looking at the same book? That thing is hideous! What do you think, do you like it? I won't hold it against you if you do...I might think you're a little stuck in the 80's though! :)

In the 80s I had a fabulous Brian Rochford one-piece with cutout sides that gave the illusion of a fabulous hourglass shape - and a HELLISH tanline. Can you imaging the tanlines on that thing? Although at least your left armpit would be nice and tanned...

Thanks for my giggle for the day!
Haha! you make me laugh PPMJ! Would love to see that one-piece, sounds fabulous!
I agree, the tan lines in this thing would be horrendous!
