The Art of Over-Committing

May has just been mad. Like really, really mad. We have had so much on and I feel like the month has just evaporated faster than a puddle on a hot summers day. It's gone so quick that I haven't done Zee's Nine Months post and I am feeling super guilty about that. Talk about Second-child Syndrome.

That's totally a thing too!

My Blogging Journey: 5 years of thought-vomiting on the internet

So you may have noticed that this coming week marks 5 years since I started blogging. And if you didn't? All I can say is, shame. You can crawl back to your rock now. Hehehehe. Not really. Please stay. I promise I'll play nice. Mostly!

So to celebrate my bloggy birthday, and the fact that I am super-stoked to be the first-ever guest host of Thursday's BEST linky party, The Lounge, I picked the theme Birthdays & Anniversaries. So link up your birthday or anniversary-related posts below so I can give some Loungey-Loving!

5th Bloggy Birthday Bonanza!

Edited: Winners announced at the bottom of this post...

Next week this little ol' blog turns 5. Next Wednesday to be exact. FIVE! I can't believe it's been 5 whole years since I hit publish on my first post. In some ways it feels like a lifetime ago, and in other ways it feels like only yesterday.

Monday Mini-Rant: The "Real Woman" Myth

Real women have curves.

Real women are fit and healthy.

Real women drink wine and only eat bacon.

For the love of baby cheeses, can someone please point me in the direction of the first person who used the term "Real Woman" so that I can find them and kick the shit out of them while I eat my bacon in my non-made-up face.

What would you do if you lost your precious memories?

This is a post for Mother's Choice

I take a lot of photos. So many in fact that in the first 5 months of this year alone (and keeping in mind the fact that we haven't finished May yet!), I've taken over 2000 photos. That figure doesn't even include all the photos I've taken on my phone, that's just the ones I've taken with my DSLR. As you can imagine, when you multiply those kinds of numbers over the years, we are talking a lot of photos. And a lot of photos calls for a lot of storage. And back-up.

Wordless Wednesday: Share the Love Sunday

T(V) & Sy(E)mpathy

Patrick, Offspring, Offspring tv show, Patrick & Nina
It's Wednesday afternoon and I've just got back from getting groceries. The whole time I was shopping I couldn't get her out of my head. How hard it must be to be raising a daughter by yourself. To have lost your partner not quite a week before giving birth. I thought about how sad it is that he will never get to meet his daughter, see how beautiful she is and how much joy she brings everyone. What must it be like to be going through the happiest and the saddest moments of one's life, at the same time?

The Perfect (Mother's) Day

I first wrote this post back in 2009 when it was set as a challenge for an online blogging community that I was a part of, Blog This. Blog This no longer exists, but some of the challenges are still my favourites to this day. This particular challenge was to write the recipe for the perfect day and I've decided to re-blog it for The Lounge. Today's theme at The Lounge is our ideal Mother's Day. To be perfectly honest, my ideal Mother's Day is basically just being able to go the whole day with no changing nappies or people whinging at me. But if it could be anything at all, it would be this....

Getting friendly with Peppa Pig (and Daddy Pig of course!)

Edit: Winner announced at the bottom of this post...

Now my love for Daddy Pig is no secret around these parts. I've become known for my forbidden crush on that lovely pink pig.  But I also have a soft spot for his daughter Peppa. In fact my whole family does. Punky is so obsessed with Peppa that she sleeps with not 1, not 2, but 3 Peppa Pig dolls! And as if that wasn't enough, we even have a Peppa Pig training toilet seat just waiting for Punky to finally decide that yes, she will in fact give up nappies forever (I'm not holding my breath!).

"Are you a midwife?"

{Image Source}
A good midwife is hard to find. Ok, maybe not that hard, most midwives are actually pretty awesome. The ones I know in my personal lives are anyway. But the really exceptional midwives, who go above and beyond? They certainly are hard to find.
